I changed my distributor cap for a correct tan one this evening. When looking at the one I removed. I noticed that one contact was corroded? What would had caused just one contact to corrode?

Loose connection and arcing possibly. What did the spark plug wire look like?

Well I had just changed the wires and did not have the old wires handy so don't know?

Lead probably wasn't pushed fully in.

Lead probably wasn't pushed fully in.

Could have been that as well, which would have caused arcing. Either way, you have a new cap and wires now so it's hopefully a non issue going forward
