2579 is the build date August 19, 1968.

Yes, it is an aluminum case. Does ist fit a 68 Charger?

Date code on this one is not 1968, it looks like the 257th day of 1979.

You could make it work with a '68 with the right parts, search around for A-833 overdrive swaps & see what parts Brewers has available.

People have mentioned in that past that the aluminum case overdrives are not as strong, so look into that too.

A pal had one behinds a 380HP 360 crate motor & it did just fine though.

I think the issue with them is that over time the shafts can oval out the points where they are pressed into the case.
