The 489 case was first available for the 1969 model year.

Big to little conversion u-joints are available.

What is the centerline of the spring perches?

1968-70 B-body spring perches are 44" center to center.

So you have an open pumpkin and a bare case? Depending on what engine and power level i would STRONGLY suggest considering building a dana. The cost from scratch to build a dana vs a 8.75 is not much.
