I wish the wife and I could plan a caravan.. but with her only being able to go 3 or 4 hours a day post concussion we can't! IF any of you see this combo.. flag us down!

Will your path take you thru Cinncinatti/Northern Kentucky?

I am an idiot!  I didn't think my car would be accepted and I didn't think I could get off work.  Both happened .  I bought tickets but know that all hotels are sold out.  Did anyone make reservations that they won't be able to use?  I will gladly buy out someone's room if available.  Wife wont sleep in the truck.

Thursday event update and video from Tim Wellborn.

https://vimeo.com/359866094/120424b4d5

Meet up at Atlanta Motor Speedway at 7:30 AM     Track laps at 8:00 and will be complete by 10 AM.    Then you head over to Alex City which is about a hour and a half away.       Registration will be at the Wellborn Museum Thursday afternoon and early evening.     Don't bring your truck and trailer to the museum.     Truck and trailer parking is just off Hwy 280 on the north side and behind the Taco Bell.   This is across the street from the Winn Dixie where we have staged and parked rigs previously.

The last time, we were in and out of Atlanta by 10.   I don't think anyone was unhappy.    I think we got about 15 laps at decent speed.

Test loaded and tie down logistics figured out. Thought it would have been exactly like the Bee but the lower cut rear wheel wells on the Bird make tire strapping "fun"! A couple extra rear straps for panic stops and now to collect spares, fluids, tools, camping supplies, etc for a few weeks on the road with the wife. Managed to get the car placed so there is just enough room for us to sleep in front of the nose if we need to.

Hope to see many of you there!

Wayne,
If you have a folding flap at the end of your ramp door be sure to secure it!
You don't want it to come in contact with the wing and chip the paint!
Ask me how I know about this?
MJ

Yes John, thanks. One of the first things I did when I set my new trailer up thanks to me reading that awhile back on your posts. My flap is above my wing..so it can swing all it wants UNTIL it flies off !  :P

Wayne,
I like your slide latch setup!
It looks better than my flimsy eye and hook hardware.

Confirmation for the umpteenth time that you picked the right gal 40 years ago. Not only willing to do such crazy things with me still, it was her idea instead of waking up in a hotel in the morning and looking outside to see that truck/trailer and all had been "tilt and loaded" in the night !

Just wanted to add to the "convoy " topic. We will be leaving Central Illinois on Tuesday early with the intent of making it just North of Atlanta that night. Wednesday I'll be stopping by Jim Davis' Vintage Metal Works in Commerce GA by late morning to check out his shop and let him check out my 'Bird (he is the guy I bought it from 18 years ago) then a quick stop by Year One to pick up a couple of things and then onto the Hotel along with a shopping stop at the Mall of Georgia to keep momma happy...
VMS, Year One and the mall are all on I-85 headed into Atlanta from the Northeast. Let me know if anyone is heading in those directions or would like to check out Jim's shop.
Scott

Looks like we have been cleared to head to Atlanta Tuesday. May tag along if that ok?  Which direction will you be running?  We are coming from northern Kentucky (Cinncinatti) down I-75.

Birdflu

Just curious for those of us going to Atlanta on Thursday...how many will be driving their cars from the track to Alexander City vs trailering them? I know, weather permitting, I'm kinda looking forward to the 2 hr convoy of Aero cars heading down the freeway! Hope the wife is okay driving the truck & trailer!

r4daytona

Not sure what I may do. Driving would be cool but I think I'd feel like i'm "stiffing" my friend that is helping me haul my car down there.  I'll probably just haul it.
