I've got myA518 bolted onto my 440 in the 69. I was looking for a comprehensive step by step on how to get it in there correctly. Used search but couldn't find one. Can anyone help? Do I need to cut the transmission crossmember? Where should the final location of the output shaft be?

Ideally you want it where the old one was. Not knowing where it was at this point get it as high in the tunnel as you can. Might have to trim off some of the ribs on the trans and bang out the tunnel a little.

Yeah I started trimming the crossmember to fit the trans. A little at a time. I guess I'll measure the offset of the rear axle, get the transmission output shaft in the same location.  Then measure the pinion angle and get the output shaft to the same angle there too.

I took pictures and measurements of the 727 tailshaft before removal.
