I'm redoing my parking lenses right now and outside of polishing the pitted clear glass is there a way to make the clear plastic portion smoother or look better?

If your referring to the front turn signal lenses, I just redid mine, I had the same problem.  Mine were original and beat up from 50 years of service.  I used 2000 grit sand paper and wet sanded the lenses, it left them foggy.  With a Dremel, I put on a soft cloth tool, put thin car polish on the lens and with the Dremel on low was able to polish the lenses, they turned out very good.

Flitz Polish. Follow the included directions for which material you are polishing.
