Hey guys anybody know what this bracket is. Tried a few time to post a few pictures. Lucked out this time. lol

Anyway I was going over my parts and came across this piece. And for the love of me I can remember what it's for. I searched all 197 pages of paint and body section. I took me about 8 hours or so. I'm about to tackle the exhaust section and it has even more posts. So I thought I would ask for some help.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. My car is a 70 Charger 500, 383HP, 727, 8.75.

Thanks
Kent

Thanks a bunch tan top! Appreciate it. I just came from the shop to see where it could of went. With those tabs and bolt holes I knew it would be easy to find.  I just got a few replies over on the 70 site explaining that it is a bracket to keep the filler pipe from coming out of the tank in the event that the car got side swiped. Sort of a spacer or filler piece to help keep the tank from moving over to the frame rail after a hit. Correct eh?
Anyway here is a couple pictures of the bracket on my car I took this morning.

Sorry for asking a question that has be asked before but I couldn't find info anywhere. I wonder if the proper name for it is in the 68 or 69 parts book? It's not in my 70.

Once more thanks again tan top!

Checked all 3 parts books and I think they call it a fuel tank reinforcement bracket.  Still no real pictures. It's right around the 14-88-36 section.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Kent  , no problem at all , were all charger nuts on here , any excuse to talk & look at charger stuff

yes  your correct , to stop the filler pipe coming out the tank ,  from having heavy side swipe  wreck  , only recently learned about what that part was for my self  ,  seen it on every 70 charger , & always wondered !  is not on 68s or 69s ,  I too looked up the parts manuals , its confusing & don't think they list it  :shruggy: or maybe they are calling it something different to what I imagined it to be called & it is 3506065 but that for 71 model years  :shruggy:

the two part numbers 2883962 & 2883961  are for the two rear exhaust tail pipe hanger bracket things see below   all three years of second generations have them.

That's what I figured those were. One for the left and one for the right.  Wonder what the 2859 253 is on the 69 page? Lower right floor pan reinforcement?

Oh well found out what it was for anyway. I wish that was going to be my only question. lol It's been 15 years or so since I took her apart. Wish me luck lol

I was looking at that also, the description sounds like it could describing that part. maybe that bracket thingy has a part number stamped on it or similar,  anyway that is definitely a 70 charger only thing , although never say never with mopar ! just look at  the difference between early & late  68s & 69s, ... will do a bit of investigating  , over the holiday period if I get the chance.
feel free to post up anything your not sure off , chances are one of the guys on here will have come across the problem & or what goes where etc ,  while ive not ever had a 70 charger , ive had my 69 charger 30 years  in four months time ,& ive taken everything to bits & then some & put back many times.  finally  removed the  very last nut bolt clip & screw when I done the nut & bolt resto / rebuild, will help if I can remember

Thanks tan top! You are the man! I looked through all 97 pages of interior section last night while watching the Leafs. And I seen your answers to many a question. I want to thank you on behalf of all of us that you share your knowledge with. I mean that. You have pulled a rabbit out of your hat many time for lots of us. I mean look, you went to the trouble to try and find that part in 3 parts books! I would do the same, but many many would not.
Thank you.

Going over "what is this?" questions. The #1 question was for that plastic triangular piece that goes up by the sail panel to blend the transition from the inner panel to the headliner. I think that question was asked around 10 times. I think their should be a "What is this?" section. For the many hidden bits and pieces of these great cars. Clips clips and more clips???? lol

Just thought I would mention that. lol

Merry Christmas tan top to you and your family!

Seen that Lennard. Lots of great info there for sure. Lots and lots of info on the site. Just have to find it. Takes some time but it's there.

No mater how you look at it, this place is a wonderful resource. Couldn't put her back together with out it.

Good deal charger Downunder!  Thanks for looking into it.

I'm going to change the thread topic name for better reference. Hopefully it will come up when some one searches "Bracket"
