Maybe you can still find a build sheet under the seat frame? :icon_smile_big:

Even the fender tags a repop, so what's the bidder buying. Scrap ain't worth $3 a pound.

A title for a rebody/recreation... and any parts, if you can find anything salvageable off this toasty bird

DoubleDlover

X 2.

Okay, I stared at it some more. I MAY see an inspection stamp "2" in it right down close to the order number, but generally it would be stamped perpendicular (from the right edge) to the order number to get it down that far, not parallel (stamped from the top edge). Also rare the top right corner isn't deformed on the tag.  ( I know 179753 IS a real Bird )

Either way, scrap metal isn't selling for $3 a pound. What is salvageable out of that? Possibly the drive line I guess..

Mopar John

Years ago I had a small body shop and I would go to salvage auctions.
I would buy rebuilders to work on during the slow times.
The bidders would always look closely at the guys that paid any more than scrap value for burnt cars.
Back then it was usually Corvettes or Monte Carlo SS's.

Redbird

Who is actually selling the carcass of this destroyed car?

If someone rebodies the serial #'s onto another car can they go to jail? There is probably a Statute of Limitations that limits the time frame after a first sale.

I'm pretty sure I understand why a rebodied car, represented as another car, presents a legal liability to a seller. However the seller has to have assets to claw back to. If a future seller forms a LLC or Corporation, then they can just fold the entity.

Between auctions, rebodies, and restampings the average person would seem to have little or no protections anymore.

Save the 318 Satellites!

Could be like that Daytona they rebuilt and just used an original rocker panel and couple other small bits and still call it the same car

A donor roof, and a truck load of AMD sheet metal, and the bird can be resurrected!

odcics2

When Gary Rollins owned the car before Milt, it had a 510 stroker, and 3.54 dana in it.
It blew up on the high bank at Chelsea during a "Chrysler Car Club Convention", thinking 1983 time frame.

Don't know if the 510 was rebuilt or just a 440 now...  :shruggy:

Now the world's best known Chinese Daytona.   We can call it Chi-Tona.

I look at some of the metal work done at the AMD installation center on Facebook.  It is amazing how little of the original car is being used in some of these projects.     The bulk of the car is offshore metal.

Alaskan_TA

If anyone swaps VINs to new metal, it will never, ever be the same car.

A VIN is a legal ID.

If your child died, would you go get a 'donor child' & swap your kids birth certificate to the 'donor'?

I hope not.

Yet some fools think it is OK.

Idiots.

Chinese proverb..........It is better to have Chinese Daytona, than no Daytona at all.

What if you had the burnt Superbird melted down in a smelter and had it made into new AMD metal?  ::)
