hi i am looking at a 440 block standard bore bare block with mains

Price seems to vary GREATLY on area. Have you mic'd the bores or had it mag'd? Its such a gamble buying 50+ year old stuff. But in my area bare blocks trade hands for a few hundred, yet ive seen them on this site where people are paying over a grand sight unseen. Fwiw, i just picked up 2 complete 383s intakes to oil pan, standard bores, 1 400 short block, 1 400 block, and 2 440 blocks, and paid 500 for all of it.

The D is 1968 model year, so see if a partial VIN is stamped near the top of the transmission bell at the back of the block for more information.
