Are these the same? Customers car was finished out at a shop with very little mopar knowlege and just used regular bolts so I need a complete grill retaining hardware set. I tried vans but they don't list a 68. I looked on one of my 68 grills and they are different than what I am used to for the 69 charger and 70 cuda. Anyone have a source for a new 68 grill retaining hardware kit?

It hard to believe no one here has run into this problem. I looked on all my parts grills and the hardware is defiantly different on the 68 vs 69 Charger. The washer for the 68 is much thicker and there is three pieces to it rather than two thin ones on the 69. The head on the bolt is a smaller 5/16 as well. Anyone know of source for these new?

I put a 69 grille into a 68 frame about 16yrs ago using the 68 hardware. I never knew there was a difference so just used them.
It looked fine to my untrained eye at the time.

Thanks for the pictures. I don't have a 68 book. From what I see, it looks like they list the same ones for both 68 and 69 in the parts book. There is a top and bottom piece and it gives the part no for both years as 2785 743 and 2785 742. Maybe your book is a version printed later and they changed the part no to the more common 69-70 retainer. They did that sometimes. Idk. I sent a message to Tom at RT specialties and explained the difference between the two years and he simple replied back that he had them. I still can't find a picture on his website. I did look at all my parts grill that are still together and all my 68 grilles had the thick washer and small head screw. I'll order one and find out, I guess. I may have to rob some from a grille but the bolts  are usually in bad shape. I can see how these would be difficult to make as they have a steel bushing made inside the plastic.

I through forgetting and acquiring parts over many years, had purchased several grill mounting kits and they all had different parts in them.  They were all allegedly correct for a '68.
