i'd wager there was a guy with a floor jack, four way lug wrench, and a truck load of mounted tires cussing his way through the cars already sent to creative

BUT -  The cars would have been produced with W-23 wheels, but probably removed prior to shipment to the dealers.
As usual, what would help is an original vintage photo of a production car WITH the wheels!   :yesnod:

I have a picture of Richard's 610 car in a Press Release photo with the W23's removed and the Monoco Wheel covers already installed. His car and mine, were built at the very same time, done at the same time.. Why else would his 610 broadcast sheet be found in my 614 car and my 614 broadcast sheet be found in his 610 car... So, that shows me too that his car and my car were paired up in being built. I'll find and scan it.

I typically think of early production cars as being pretty close to schedule. :shruggy:

We built pilot cars in house, by hand.
I remember working on Program Cars in the August of the year, for the "new year" coming up.
Press Cars, Merchandising, Sales & Mkt., etc.  The BIWs were done at Highland Park in the Pilot plant and finished in the Road Test Garage,
before the plants were going.  I worked in TCF. (trim chassis final)  Fuel Systems, at that time.

Then, Pre-Producton cars were at the plant, slow build to get the bugs out.
Then, VP.   (volume production)
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Just need a vintage photo of a C-500 with the Kelsey wheels so Ernie can win his wager!   :2thumbs:

Vintage- Here is Richard's 610 500 in a Press Release photo, sans W23's, with the Monoco/Polara 15" wheel covers. Since his and mine were built at the same time, his should look like mine and mine like his...

You should see my trunk weatherstrip lip on the plug section of the trunk opening.... non-existing........ And I confirmed with Richard's 610, it is relatively non-existing too.. The weatherstrip on the top section of the opening (the plug) is laying in the water channel......... Nice to know Quality Control eventually corrected it for production cars.. no wonder my trunk was completely rotted out.....

That wasn't union work, both of those items were installed at Creative Industries, just saying. That is how most of their work was. They were probably being rushed to get the 500 cars built for Nascar compliance, in their defense though.

The guy that I bought wing car parts from years ago told me that he was in the UAW.   :Twocents:

The two Chrysler Engineering Race Mechanics working on the #88 were also UAW members.

All that I could find on the 500 original dealer
Hutton-Scott Dodge in Charlotte NC. The dealership is no longer in business however Scott Jaguar is a continuation of the original company. I have researched the dealership and found that it sponsored Buddy Baker in a Raymond Fox owned 1965 Dodge for the 1966 Charlotte NASCAR race. The car led 36 of the first 51 laps and retired with a blown engine.

Arranging the garage this weekend to make room for a 70 Barracuda ragtop.. Thought I'd snap a picture of the 426 Hemi for my 500.. Took the valve covers off and she is clean as a whistle in there, fresh motor..😀

How did the rear valance and corners fit, did they have to make any "pie" cuts?  I think you said the valance was NOS but what about the corners? NOS or AMD or Goodmark?

the rear lower valance was NOS (not any more :-) ). The end caps are still not right and needed to be adjusted as you mentioned. In hindsight, I should have bought the good originals I found about a year ago, but they were at $400 and I couldn't swallow that at the time............. But, the body shop is doing a good job thus far.. Happy with the progress.
