I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

69_500

This car is my personal favorite 500. Very surprised that he is selling the car.

I think he'll still be owning it for some time with a $400K "starting" price  :scratchchin: :eyes: :slap:

Comes a point in everyone's life for self-reflection.... And, maybe he's like someone else I know who's looking for a Daytona and this is what it will take...  ;D

I start to second guess myself on why I own two classics let alone a 3rd in my near future....

I thought the #1 charger 500 was the Mule that Jerry service owns/owned

red with white interior, and 68 side markers

I have been told that there are 2 Charger 500 prototypes one Hemi auto and one Hemi 4 speed?
Can any one verify this rumor for me?

I have heard rumor of a second 68 500, but have seen zero proof for it. No papers, no pictures. No reliable information.

The car for sale is the first 69 500.

There certainly has been "talk" of a second prototype 500 in modern times.    Of course, no pics of it from back in the day.     I guess it is possible, but almost 100 percent certainty there is only the red '68 500 car that exists today.

::::----  The last one I
saw for sale was white and went for much less than 200k at mecum-  but then there can be a 200k difference between 2 -6 pak birds at the same auction for many reasons as we all know.

I've always had the impression a test mule was just that, a test car, not a production car... Most test mules don't survive... Then you have production cars....  In the case of Richard's, and to a certain degree mine, they are the first production cars. It is my understanding an initial patch of 6 cars were sent to Creative, 110610 thru 110615 ( 925000 - 925005 ) at the same time to be converted for Press Release duties in different geographical areas, then destined to be sold...Hence, production run........ Jerry's is a test/concept car

There are mules, pilot cars, pre-production and production cars.
Most mules are a cobbled mess and destroyed.
Pilots are usually for testing, sometimes were destroyed, sometimes not.
Pilots are hand built using mostly production tooling.

In 1972 there were a few B body 6 pack pilot cars that escaped and got out into the public.

I saw a 72 Challenger convertible prototype too. It was a 318 automatic car. JH27G2B1000XX  I don't remember what the last two numbers were, but it they were low numbers . I saw it in Massachusetts back around 1984,and didn't realize what it was till much later. Some cars that supposedly don't exist slipped out.

If you have a legit car in front of you, or vintage pics, or documented vin numbers, what's to argue about?    :scratchchin:

I saw a yellow 6 pack 72 Charger years ago, didn't have a camera...   :brickwall:
Owned by a guy named Mike Schenk, n. of Detroit.    Haven't heard of of seen it in decades!!
