NICE   :drool5: .. now why anyone would install a, reproduction, Lynch Road tag with one painted and one bare screw is beyond me, or did they do things different in Dec of '69 vs the 1969 car line?

Nice to see the correct air cleaner on the car.  Many do not have the belt guard.

Hi and Good Morning birdsandbees,                    11 July 2019

Could it be the "Restorer's" way of indicating the tag is a repro?

Our question is: "Why isn't the engine code "J". Our 68 RR and 69 CD both have Hemi engines with the "J" code in the Vin. We know Chrysler would never have been inconsistent.

Another thing we have noticed is that many restored Hemi cars have black spark plug wires. Our RR came with red silicone wires, which are now on our CD. When we bought the CD it had a complete Accel ignition: distributor, coil, plugs and yellow plug wires. Getting rid of that stuff (junk) was the first thing that we changed when we got home with the car.

Just asking and learning. Thanks in advance.

Best Always,

For 1970 and 1971, the Hemi engine code changed to R.

69 Hemi plug wires were black. Have a few sets laying around here. All black with lettering.

Hemi Aero cars are always nice. But man, auto on the column is a drag. I would have to pass.

:slap:

I would drive the snot out of it.
But I'm afraid its WAY out of my target price range. And I mean WAAAAAAAAAAAY out. So its moot point

Here are some pics of my 69 GTX - 4-speed. It is 100% original - for your reference. The only difference between this and yours is that this is a "Fresh Air" car.....yours has the Chrome Dome air cleaner. The non-fresh air cars have the chrome dome air cleaner....so the breather and the PCV would be reversed from what is shown in this pic. Everything else would be identical. Note the "green can" in the last pic. Yours should have this.

That tag should have very little to NO paint on it from Lynch Road  ;)

Screws painted or not painted?? Tags were hung and got overspray at best, were the screws in the inner fender holes for paint or installed bare?

new zinc plated screws used to install the tag once the body was painted

Thanks, just wanted to check.. many are of the consensus that screws were in holes painted, tag hung in '69 on Lynch Rd.

Fake window sticker.

I have to wonder why people even bother to have them 'made'.

Wayne,
My take for the Superbird fender tags is that they were hung in the windshield opening and got overspray on them.
They did not look like the rest of the car!
Installed later with 2 new unpainted screws.
I have attached a picture of mine.

Thanks John! I have a repro tag to replace mine, I just cleared it and installed with fresh screws as I'm not out to fool anyone that it's OE.

Fake window sticker.

I have to wonder why people even bother to have them 'made'.

1 of the top 5 questions I get at a show is "How much did it cost new" To pre-answer those questions I have once or twice had a window sticker printed to illustrate original cost. I make sure to boldly type REPRODUCTION at the top to avoid issues. This is a picture of the 1 from my Daytona before Gene had decoded it for me-it incorrectly includes the A01 light option, which is not on the car.
When I get them done I try to be true to where the car was actually sold and everything else, and the Daytona came from King Dodge in Portland Oregon (via my friend Joe C in New York). I have been to that address last year and it is a bad area of Portland with a Salvation Army at the spot.
Hope this helps-people are really interested in this stuff and I hope 1 day to hear of someone who knows that dealership and if they still have any old paperwork.

My tag zero overspray on the face and very very little overspray on the back. I will update with a photo later.

I enjoy reading the Fake window stickers at shows the compare option's costs.  The biggie is the AM radio, which at $61, often cost more than a lot of other more fun and less common options (eg Sure grip rear ends, tic toc tacs).
