Superbird License Plate Lamp Assembly

A few months ago I was sorting out a box of rear bumper stuff.
I noticed that there were 2 kinds of license plate lamp brackets.
Some digging around on the net told me that the ones with the bigger mounting tabs were 1970.
The ones with the straight tabs were 1968 and 1969.
In my first picture you see the 1970's on the left with the note I made myself and 1968-1969 on the right.
The other day I was adding all the pictures from the corrections I have made to the Superbird photo album.
I came across a picture of the NOS license plate lamp assembly that we used on the Superbird.
I show that part in my second picture.
OH NO! Did we use the wrong part?
I got out my 1970-1971 dealer parts book.
It shows part number 2853756 (bef 8-1-69) and part number 3403941 (aft 8-1-69).
So do I have the wrong part on our Superbird?
I need some pictures again from original cars to see what's correct?
Thanks! MJ

MJ  mine is still hooked to the original bumper.  I'll get some pics for ya.  Matter of fact, I'll be taking it off soon for restoration.  I'll get you numbers also.  Good luck.  Graybo

I can't wait to see it!
This past weekend we attended the CMC show in Belvedere, Illinois and there was only a 1970 GTX there.
It had what I believe is the correct bracket.
I also remembered that Dave FJ5WING had an NOS license plate lamp assembly with his parts for his rear bumper.
So I went through his post and found the picture with it.
I asked him if I could use it here and it's my first attachement.
If he saved his boxes like I have I would like to know the part number on the box?
I also have found a NOS version of the 3403941 (left)and have a picture attached with my 2853756 version(right).

the seller should be locked up for extortion, judging by that shipping charge

It also says this farther down in the ad so do not think that is the real shipping price

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the "shipping" costs. CRA may have collected 13% HST tax that the buyer would have paid.. something we're use to, we keep the KY handy!  :P

i've sold hundreds of items on ebay during the twenty-one years i have been registered there.

i imagine ebay automatically filled in the high amount based on the buyer's zip code and my own.

it had nothing to do with using the shipping calculator - the price came up when i clicked the link above

a regular ebay seller should be smart enough to set the shipping calculator to work correctly

he obviously realizes he has a problem with his settings to have added the disclaimer. fix it.

i'd personally take the easy route and set it at a flat rate

a good number of people will simply skip over that ad once they see what automatically fills in

I do have another NOS on the shelf but I remember it being different enough that I didnt consider using it. Has anyone come up with a part number off any of their brackets? I have yet to see a number. The box the part I used had the ends missing so I dont have a number there either, but looks like I have an incorrect part that happens to fit.
Still dont have any pics to offer though.
wingless now, but still around.

Thanks Wayne!
I noticed that your bracket is painted black and all the NOS brackets are plated a silver finish?
Yours has the late style bracket with the large tabs.
I hope we get some more original examples.
