Lower control bracket

So it is looking like the arm is just floating in the lower shifter control bracket on a 68 automatic.  It just doesn't look right and is loose with a lot of play.  Is there supposed to be a clip or something on it?  If so, where do I get it?

Think it's held in from the inside, under the console. If I remember right.

yes, the lower shaft just hangs there. No clip and a new bushing would be a good idea
