When the factory added torque boxes to the chassis of four speed cars, did they just spot weld those thing sin there or was it a bead?

GT

All the factory examples i have seen have the same quality of welds as the K frame.   Which is to say they were slobber welded with randomly placed beads.   Hopefully someone can post a picture of a stock one to show you.

When i added mine, i fully welded it.

i'm no / far from an expert  I always thought only HEMI cars got torque boxes ,  &  convertible  B-bodies  68-70 , not sure what the deal was with  70 & later E-bodies & 71 & later B bodies I know ive seen original 440 cars with torque boxes in those years  :scratchchin:
I await to be corrected

I thought it was convertibles, Hemi's and 440 four speed cars.  I have heard about it not being accomplished 100% across the board though.  Anxious to hear some more info now myself.

AFAIK there wasn't enough consistency to predict which cars would get torque boxing.  Hemis and 440/4spds were the most common.

Chrysler never treated the torque boxes like a selling point.  It wasn't an option you could check off at the dealership.  It was just something the engineers quietly added onto cars that were liable to get dragstrip abuse.  The parts/procedure already existed for the convertible cars.
