The color broadcast; what department did that come out of?  Curious where all 4 sheets were found.  I can think of 3 popular places, but the fourth?  And a black seat car having even one matching sheet is not a given.

hi,

i think the car hammered for $175k, add 10% for buyer = $192,500 , then deduct almost 10% (it was supposed to be 10% but i wasn't willing to accept that amount so mecum cut their commission a little to make it work) from hammer price that seller (me) received.

when i first bought the car in 1999 it came with 2 broadcast sheets, after i bought the car a prior owner (rich heidbretter) mailed me one he had misplaced but later found after he sold it to the person i bought it from. then a few years ago the original owner had recently moved and during his move found the bill of sale, window sticker, another buildsheet and some other paperwork that he had.
so because i wasnt the one who removed them from the car i couldnt say where they were found.
but going by the looks of them, i'd guess back seat, front seat and dash. but not certain as i wasnt the one who removed them or where the 4th one came from

i was told the most buildsheets of being found in a car , that match the car, was 5

Thanks for the info. Is this (RM23U0A171648) the B5 bird that had 200 miles in late 1980's?

FYI: hamtramck-historical.com says 5 found in one car.

no, the mileage wasnt that low on mine. im thinking that car came out of Virginia, and bill rolik found it maybe??

bannedbird

I think it was up for auction recently, but it was advertised as more than 200 miles.  Unless it was your car (RM23U0A171648) and I assumed it was that 200 miler.  What was approximate mileage on yours?  I didn't see it in the auction info.

I couldn't afford that 200 mile bird back then (1987?) so got a more affordable 200 mile Cosworth-Vega.  At least it had 16-valves! Thanks Tony.

My car just hit 19,000 miles

I always liked those cosworth Vegas

In 86 I passed on a Hemi 'Bird and bought the most documented numbers matching Cos-Vega there is (429 miles on it now: I drove it to local shows).  I can't sell it: it reminds me to buy with my head, not my heart! LOL. But I do like the car.  In fact I bought a Superbird planning to be the tow vehicle for the CV.  Was going to paint the Bird black with gold to match the CV. Bird prices went up but CV didn't, so sold that Bird and got a C-500.
