So what will this mean for the American brands?

Probably nothing....not much changed when FIAT took over or when Daimler bought Jeep and then sold to FIAT.

 those french / Italian makes  peugeot citroen  renault fiat  have always been the makes to avoid  imo  & unless your buying brand new & keeping it for only a year or two do not buy one !  avoid !, is what I tell every one who asks  :lol:   poorly made /  crap electrics etc

Smaller, fuel efficient cars through badge engineering. FCA - esp Chrysler and Dodge - have NOTHING to offer as far as that market goes. Same goes w/ hybrids and electrics.
