I am confirming another detail item on our Superbirds.
On original cars what is the length of these tie rod tubes or sleeves from end to end?
Thanks! MJ

Birdflu

Hey John!
Ours measure 8" in length. I believe the are original as our car hasn't undergone a restoration.

Thanks Gary!
The reason I have asked this question is that my spares are 8", 8 1/4" and 8 1/2".

How does this apply to other B bodies? And does it apply to Daytona's and 500s?

Thanks in advance

Mine are 8" John. Went to measure my OE '69 Bee ones as well, but they're frozen inside a Sea Can right now.

Same as any other B-body in the same model year.

Wing / aero cars did not have any front suspension parts different from other models.

I like that the first 2 examples are the same 8" length!

Same length as my 1970 4-door.

There nothing about these that is Superbird specific.

Can one assume aftermarket is different?

Stock cars use different lengths on each side.  :2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

John, probably won't help but for reference here are mine.  29K mile 'Bird but went off-road in 1977.  I assume aftermarket were put on because the nose and passenger side got pretty banged up (I assume tie rods broke).  I measured better than images show: 8.25" for both mine.

Steve,
Those look to be factory tubes and clamps.
In my pile of spares from parted B Bodies are several 8 1/4" examples.
But I wanted to verify the ones on Superbirds so stay tuned and see what others come up with?
Thanks! MJ

John,
Went out and checked my tie rod end lengths.
   Superbird 8.25 inches long
   68 GTX 8.25 inches long
   68 Charger 8.25 inches long
   70 Dart 8.25 inches long
Found another set that I think is from a 68 Sattelite that measured 8.00 inches long! Just wanted to say thankyou for all of the information you have put on this site has really helped me out!

Hemi Head,
You are welcome!
Thanks for posting the length's of your tie rod ends!
I didn't want to reveal the length of mine till we had some other examples posted.
Our Superbird has the 8.25" length tie rod sleeves on it.

Pete,
Thanks for your measurements!
We now have 4 Superbirds with 8" sleeves and 3 with 8 1/4" sleeves.
I hope others take the time during this off season to measure their's.
