Does a cam button do anything with a flat tappet cam?

Any reason to use a cam button on anything other than a roller cam?

A flat tappet cam has tapered lobes which keep the camshaft properly positioned in the cam tunnel. Roller cams don't use the tapered design thus requiring the button to keep the cam from walking forward in the tunnel.

As mentioned above....no button needed with a flat tappet (hydraulic/solid) cam profiles.  ;)
