I hope this is the correct section. I am going to start working on my 69 super bee, but I have a quick question. the radiator support for it is damaged and I need advice on how to proceed. I have pic below. it appears that the last guy just yanked the engine out and banged up the top support. how do I fix this. try to hammer it out and straiten it or replace. I am not sure about how to keep the VIN number if I replace. the car is not numbers matching but id like to keep those on the support.

Just find a straight one and put it on...keep the bent one if you sell the car and someone wants the numbers.

Heat, dolly and quickly quench to try and shrink the flutes/humps or use a shrinker tool to reduce the humps and it should pull straight. Mine was worse than that from yanking motors back in the day and we got it straight enough you don't notice anything with the radiator in place.

You need a flat body hammer and a dolly with a 90* face.  The metal is already stretched a bit, so you will need to shrink it, as others have mentioned.  It's not too bad...

Read this first, and practice on some scrap metal.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna order that book and do some reading first, and practice. But knowing that Wayne's was also bent up and was worked out is comforting to know. I'll more than likely give it a shot.  :2thumbs:
