I've been in the market for a Superbird for quite awhile, and looked at several over the past many months but none have checked all the boxes for me.  A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Dave Watts who was on the fence about selling his car.  As many of you know, Dave has been a poster on this board for the past 10 years, and has owned this particular lime light winged wonder since 1987.  After a few back and fourths, Dave agreed to sell me the bird and I brought it home over the past weekend.  What remains left to do is to finish and install the drive train, some interior work, decals and other related final detailing.  Over the past couple of weeks, Dave gave me the whole back story on the car including a great photo from 1987 when he purchased it sporting most of its original paint with white decals. Dave - thank you for this opportunity

Thanks for all the thumbs up  :2thumbs:
For me, this car checked all the boxes.  Original sheet metal, 440 six pack, 4-speed trans, all matching numbers, original fender tag and build sheet.  The biggest plus is solid history of ownership with the last owner having the car for 33 years.

Got some NOS decals from Tony's Parts.   Couldn't wait to install them.  It was a little tricky getting the backing material off, but patience and a little help from my wife's hair dryer did the trick.

Looks SWEET! I always was partial to the 'WHITE' letters! And NO, I'm not racist!

Apparently lime light (FJ5) cars were suppose to receive black decals but this one came with white decals from the factory.  Not complaining...

I am sad that Dave did most of the hard work to restore this Superbird and due to mostly external factors
didn't get the satisfaction of finishing it!
Congrats to the new owner on getting this great Superbird!
I am happy to see that you are continuing the high level of the restoration with the NOS decals.
