My buddy is getting ready to buy Magnums for his 68. he wants to go 245 60 15 on 15x7s all the way around. I know that the back will be no problem.

I have heard mixed reviews of 245s on the front, some say it is OK some say it rubs a little.

I only have 235s on mine and it is  no problem.

If he goes to a 15x8 with 4.5" backspace then I've heard it hits on the outside lip.

Any one running this setup up front with no problems?

I'm running 245/60 r15 all around on 15x7 vectors (general lee wheels). I don't know what the backspacing is for them. But they do rub in front. Just a bit. It's not enough for me to worry. Car still turns sharp as heck

again, i don't recall the backspace, but it is whatever people recommended on the tires/wheels thread - but 4.25 sounds right.  i run 15 x 7 with 245 front no problem on a 70d mine are radial ta

can he measure from his present set up

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

At full steering lock the inside tire will definitely hit the subframe rail behind the shock tower.

I have installed 15x7 Vectors backspace is 3.75  but I think any wheel 15x7 and 4.5 backspace and 245 is possible rub

I have a '69 and run 15x7 Cragars with 4.25 BS and 245/60-15s on the front with no rub.

I have 245/60/15's with 4.5" backspace on 8" rims up front.

245/60-15 BFG on 15x7 Magnums, 4-1/4" backspace, no rubbing.  With the suspension compressed, there's about 1" clearance to the fender, and 2" to the frame rail with the wheel turned full left, and right.
