What lubricant to use on rubber suspension bushings

I am getting ready to put new shocks and new rear springs in the wife's 'Cuda. I am pretty sure I heard somewhere to never use petroleum based grease to lubricate rubber bushings. What do I use to lubricate them upon installation? I have silicon grease I use for brake caliper slides/pins. Will that work?

Don't see why it wouldn't? I used slyglide I bought at NAPA when I did mine. Just a light coat so dirt doesn't build up as well.

Soap and water is another safe option.

I've never used any kind of lubricant on rubber, only soapy water to help assembly.  :shruggy:

I have the rubber lubricant you mix with water to lube tire beads before putting the tire on the rim. Maybe that would work.

Plumbers Lube is used for rubber seals/gaskets in faucets and would be harmless. Lowes will have it.  :2thumbs:
