Spy satellites maybe, :shruggy: although who knows what's out there might be selfish to think we're alone.
Besides someone had to advise and assist Richard sias in designing the 68 charger the level of

A hunert years from now (if people are still around) I wonder what they'll say about the accepted "laws of physics" from our time.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

alfaitalia

Probably still work to them...like we do to stuff that was figured out hundreds of years ago by Galileo, Da Vinci etc. New stuff is discovered....but more often it fits with the laws we have now rather than replaces them or contradicts them. Just because nothing can travel faster than light...and it can't Captain Kirk.....does not mean that we might one day not be able to get places faster ways than flying there. Worm holes, distortions in space/time etc.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

John_Kunkel

My query was more about the use of the word "law" versus "theory".

In centuries past many of the accepted laws of the time are now recognized to be merely theories or have been debunked altogether.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

You mean like this one?

I took the picture while at work just before we were put in social distancing because I thought I might post it here.  Then I forgot about it until you two mentioned it in this thread.   :nana:

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

alfaitalia

Lol...it could at least be accurate.....is 186,282 mps!
..........or if you really want it to sound fast how about 670,616,629 mph!

(LEGAL....All figures quoted are speed of light in a vacuum of course...it's about 56mps slower through air (so about 201,600mph slower)..so if you are in a hurry be sure to travel in a vacuum!. Your mileage may vary. )

  whats 282mps among friends.

Yet we've established time ("Spacetime") varies, speed is calculated using time and distance?  :scratchchin:  >< time + distance = % I need a drink.

I saw a "Star-link" cluster last month. Really weird to see, I didn't know what i was seeing at first. 60 satellites traveling in a straight line across the sky. Whole thing took probably 10 minutes.

XH29N0G

Thanks for posting.

Made me look it up.  First link I found:  https://ourcommunitynow.com/news-tech/heres-how-to-spot-the-starlink-satellite-cluster-in-the-sky-this-month  Looks legit to me.  Now I just need to find those stretched-out stars

thanks.

It has been a rough week.
