Hello,

My name is Jeff and I am new to the Forum. I wonder how rare my car is with R4 paint and R6 interior?

Does anyone know what Galen Govier charges to do his research on a car like mine?

RallyeMike

Hi Jeff. Welcome.

R4 is a common color, perhaps second to dark green metallic F8, but your red interior is uncommon. Unfortunately, there is no complete record known on all the details of how the 500's were optioned beyond what can be deciphered by the VIN (engine and trans).

Speaking for everyone here I'm sure, we'd love to see you share some pics and info  :2thumbs: (Be sure to downsize pics before trying to use them)

Here is an open source data base where info has started to be collected:

R4 body with R6 interior is rare, but not unknown. I own a '69 R/T in that combination. It was not supposed to be available according to the dealer order book, but a few are known. Years ago, our buddy Galen, mentioned it in one of his magazine ramblings. He mused that one of the "V" codes on the data plate was a "not recommended but build it anyway" designation. I wish I still had the magazine.
You know you are vintage when someone says, "Back in the day", and you can dispute their facts.

Thanks for your response, I was just curious because I don't see too many with that color combination and at one time a guy that was collecting information on the 500 stated to me that he knows of only three with that color combination. Thanks for the spreadsheet

Nice picture of your car, thanks for writing. I'll have to figure out how to downsize my pictures so I can post some

red interior seems to be  pretty rare in any year , model or body style. Regardless of exterior color

I know of a couple 1969 Charger RT's  with red interior.
And at least 3 other  Charger 500s with red interior. 1 A4 silver, 1 TX9 black and 1 White

It would be super cool if you could add your car (or send me the tag info and I will). I'm pretty sure it would be the only 2x red car on the list.

So do you think it would be wise to post my tag on here? Also do you know someone that can do a vin number search for me to find out where the car was bought or from?

I have never heard a good argument why it makes sense to hide your VIN/tag/plate. It all depends on how paranoid you are.

Hi Jeff.
Great looking Charger.
How long have you had her?
Tell us a bit about how you acquired it.
Gotta love a '69

Hello, well I've had the car since the early 80s and bought it from a friend for a low price. It's a 440 automatic car. It has came a long ways since I first bought it. I am only the third owner and wish I could find out who the first owner was and what car lot it was purchased from? It was only about nine or 10 years old before it ended up in a junkyard with a blown motor.

That would be the "V08" variance code....

Well at one time I had the build sheet on my car and it said at the top of the sheet (special order 69 Charger 500) which I haven't seen another 500 with that at the top of the sheet. I was wondering if that can be created again?

Are you sure it was "special order"?. The few I have seen say "SPECIAL HANDLING CHARGER 500" at the bottom.

Well I'm pretty sure that's what it said at the top of the sheet. I thought maybe somebody had ordered it with those colorcombinations because maybe they didn't come standard that way. Also I guess it's possible to find out what number the car was being built. The VIN number is 217183
