Does anyone know how to get the horn contact retaining ring on, I've been trying everything for over 2 hours & I cant get it on.

That's not just the horn ring retainer but also the turning canceling cam lever, so needs to be somehow correctly indexed.

Sorry, can't help. That's one of the few parts of my car I never have removed.... yet LOL

its pressed on , as pressing it opens up so it slides on , i gave mine a light tap on  with a hammer & with a suitable size socket placed on the cam  , only needs the lightest of taps also a bit of grease helps too , if really tight & will not go on  , could always give the wheel a bit of a  chamfer on the  very edge with a file or similar, will make the cancelling cam easier to start

what  Natcho said  :yesnod: !  its the turn signal cancelling cam ,

its positioned at 9 oclock  , when looking at the wheel from the driver seat

pictures dont show much , but you get the idea the position of the cam

I'm agree. Shouldn't be that hard to install... is not NASA science, but I understand can be somehow tricky since it works like a hard spring. Maybe try to insert one end first diagonally then slide it in like a piston ring ( sure a piston ring is way easier ).

and, well about the indexing... once steering wheel is in place and centered ( if car is correctly aligned ) the "leg" of the ring should be aligned with the turning signal lever, which is in the middle of the cancelling cam section on turning switch. Yeah, should be around 9 O'clock... more less.

will it work on any position you install anyway, just will cancel the turning switch sooner as expected or later, depending on the side you turn

crikey ! thats tight !  i would not have thought it would give you that much trouble

one of my wheels  gave me  some problems   putting the cancelling cam back on , but it went on by tapping it just the same , cant  remember if it is the spare in the picture i posted or the one on my charger now !
the cam is made out of spring steel so as its pushed on its opens , why i mentioned try chamfering the edge that it slides over a little ,
could try  some how opening the cam a little with suitable pliers ! similar  way you would remove a external  snap ring /circlip , & tapping it same time  , i tried that way but did not have enough hands !  & eventually went on just by tapping it ,
let us know  how it goes
