FAKE B'cast sheet  :slap:

Nice, but yah.... anyone got some paper and tea and a stamp set? Black nose jack in a 'Tona. Gorgeous car, no need to make shit up. Why the broadcast sheet backed up by a $300 invoice from LMC in Milton Ontario?

A buddy of mine has some original paperwork for this car.
He bought it wrecked in the mid 1970s.
Sold it to a guy in the Dakotas.
I'm trying to get him to join the forum and
post up the many pics he has of the car from
back in the day.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Ebay listing removed and the website for Redline does not show it in inventory or as a sold car. The video (thanks Ernie) says several times all numbers matching.

anyone have a 1969 HAMTRAMCK stamped engine or transmission with the open top "4"?

If you look at the picture of the trans VIN stamp, even though it's not a great picture, you can see the engine VIN has different 5s and 0s. They should be the same.

Did 69 model year cars get the full VIN and not just the last 8 characters?  Or was that not universal?

6bblgt

the 1969 model year started with full VINs being stamped on the engine & transmission, by late-January '69 that changed to last 8-digits ONLY

Charger 500s = full VIN
Daytona = last 8-digits of VIN

I see that now, thanks.  Man you guys are sharp-eyed! Even so, I think it is a magnificent color combo.

Birdflu

Since we're on the subject of bogus numbers...how can you guys tell the broadcast sheet is fake? Iv'e seen enough stamped engine blocks to know that it's not right, but apparently I don't have a keen eye when it comes to a bogus broadcast sheet.  :shruggy:

I wonder how much of the original car still remains.  I would love to own an A4 4-speed Daytona but as others have posted, better to have stated original motor is lost than to fake it.

Sgt Superbird

I have a dumb question... I'm assuming Galen's report would have had a picture of the fender tag. (I'm assuming one was present, since he decoded it.) Why would someone ADD a code? Is it to show the tag is a repop? I guess I'm missing the logic.  :shruggy:

6bblgt

Galen would decode anything you'd pay him to decode (picture/hand written/anything) & not mention problems/issues
an evaluation was another service & additional $$

other than the VIN tag & apparent "9B400565" stamped 4-speed - nothing above authentically describes/details the Daytona (except maybe the ~35 year old picture)

Sgt Superbird

Yes, stupid me... That was only a fender tag decoding and not an eval/inspection report.  :brickwall:

Checked my Hamtramck Charger R/T. 9B308847 the "4" is closed at the top. I have owned this since 1980 and known of it since 1976. So fairly confident the stamps are original.

I've found just the opposite... most Daytonas did not have a door tag originally, based on observing the pattern of unrestored cars.  Many restorers / owners add repop tags to cars which didn't have them, thinking they were removed at some point.  From what I've seen, the presence or absence of the door tag is not tied to the VIN either.
