When installing a Fuse in the Dedicated Cable from Alternator to Battery, is it better to place it closer to the Alternator or the Battery?
Thank You,
John

The factory seemed to favor having it on the battery side, which kinda makes sense as it can provide all its current at any moment provided it is charged (short to ground).  The alternator doesn't make power unless it's turning and the regulator is providing field.  Having had a short on the alt side of the fusible link last summer, it makes sense to me to have a fuse on both sides of said cable.  My electrical system is far from stock now, so it was no big deal to put a mega fuse inline with cable coming off the alternator, and one inline coming off the battery
