Hi- tore down the axle halfshafts a couple of months ago.... the joys of waiting months for parts to get to the UK!
Can't remember the order in which the gaskets (foam and metal) go on in terms of assembly.
Exploded diagrams that I have are not clear.
I'm thinking:

Axle housing flange
Then
Metal gasket
Then
Brake backplate
Then
foam gasket
Then retainer.

Does that sound good? I seem to have recollection of scraping foam gasket off the back plates before I de-rusted them.

Thanks in advance!
Nick

And some will want to argue which way the embossing on the metal gasket faces.  ::)
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
