Hello,
After connecting my throttle rod assembly correctly to my edelbrock carb with the lever adaptor, my accelerator cable is about 2 inches too long! I don't know if I have the correct cable, looks like it cannot be adjusted. My pedal also looks very flimsy, not sure if that is the original pedal. Any ideas? buy a new pedal with cable assembly? Which one? Thanks

I figured out how to pull back at the clamp but it looks like it does not sit right, it's tight though

close  have a look here !    have you measured you throttle cable ? is it original to the car / a repop ? or ...

Thanks, it does not go back any further without pulling on the throttle. Its very tight it will not slip out but cant figure out why it does not line up. My pedal is wrong too, I don't know if I have the correct pedal lever? I don't have the correct pedal.  I don't know the length of the cable

frank1966

How do you replace only the cable? It looks like I cant remove the end of cable from the pedal lever

there is a tiny black plastic plug thingy , you need to carefully pry in out .

Nice thanks, so I have the correct lever, how does the correct pedal attach on the back? Where can I buy the correct cable? I am assuming the cable is not correct because I cannot get that bracket to line up.

I can't tell from the photo but the is it possible the you have the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable reversed? The cruise control cable should be on the very upper bracket and the throttle cable should be clamped by the lower bracket.

So you have the correct lever but not the correct pedal

If you look at Tan tops picture of the lever there is a small roller wheel on the end

The factory pedal bolts the floor and has its own hinge and just leans up against the lever and roller wheel

When the pedal pushes down it rolls up the wheel and pry the lever down to pull the cable

Yes thank I do, I did have it the other way, it actually does clamp up correctly when I have it that way but I noticed that the cable was not straight on to the bolt as it is now.  When I have it at the lower clamp the mounting point is angled up a bit - I thought that wasn't correct? but I think you are correct I should have the way it clamps best, I was not sure where which clamp the cruise control goes.

frank1966

Hey do you know where the end of the cruise control should be mounted? It does not fit at the same place where the accelerator mounts.

Got it! Thanks

The cruise control end link doesn't connect in the same place where the throttle cable end link connects to, the cruise control link hooks to a special bracket that pivots just forward of the throttle cable end link, I found a link that shows how it is hooked to the carb. The pic is posted by gtx6970 about half down the thread.
