Time... and of course, money!
I talked to my body/ paint guy I've picked out the other day. He's done a lot of custom stuff. In fact, that's pretty much what he does.
He's real excited to do a Daytona. It'll be his first.

Most excellent!

So, while I've been working on my sons '41 Power Wagon... he's been on the Daytona.
He's been concentrating on the trunk area. That was probably the worst area for the rust.
And since we've never done a trunk in a B Body Mopar before... we were a little lost. I talked to my friend Sean Machado, who has done quite a few B Bodies, about where things go. He sent me some pictures which helped. But it was in one of his completed Daytona's. He was going to come up to my son, Barrett's house to point fingers, but I was watching a latest show of Graveyard Cars and they showed a Road Runner with it's rear fenders removed. The trunk pan was installed and you could see everything. That helped immensely for what needed to be done. We were having a hard time trying to figure out how the trunk floor extensions went in.
Problem solved...

KurtfromLaQuinta

He also tacked in the right rear quarter to see where he need to fit the passenger side trunk floor extension.
I worked on the rust issue on the old rear part of the frame by wire wheeling and using a rust preventative treatment on it. Also cutting off bad stuff and the old leaf spring mounts.
Manual labor stuff.

Here's something else I restored recently...
My parents bought me this in late '63. This is the second time I restored it.

I found out what these things are going for, so I put it back to stock specs.
It rides real nice.

Very COOL, love the car AND the bike.

That's nothing. He was married to my daughter at one point.
The reason for this build is pop his head.  :icon_smile_big: Someone needs to put him in his place.
Kidding aside... he knows his stuff. Except, I can tune carburetors way better than he can. And my Daytona will be able to beat his Daytona's

All the guys in my neighborhood back in the mid 60's, all had Sting Rays. All different colors.
Then after a bit... the cheap Huffy's came out. Junk.

Collecting parts because we need to see how things will fit together.
A Moroso On/ Off Battery and Alternator Kill Switch was the latest.

Barrett has almost all the pieces cut for the trunk floor area. He'll do some bead rolling on them. Some bracing will be added also. Along with miscellaneous small tabs/ fill areas. And the battery box will be recessed into the floor.
Then all will be spot welded/ seam welded into place.

KurtfromLaQuinta

More work on the trunk area...

Did I mention this before? I dislike posting pictures on this website.
Evidently, you can't post pictures vertically it throws the "oversize code".
So, I had to distort one of my pictures to make it legal. DodgeCharger.com really needs to get into the 2021 year.
For crying out loud... if the lowly Ramcharger Central can do it, certainly DodgeCharger.com can do it!
