69 Daytona Engine detail

I recently purchased a 69 Daytona that has been in storage for 20+ years. I am in the process of restoration/renovation of this fabulous car.

I have seen in many pictures of Daytona engines that the negative battery cable is painted orange about half way up from the engine.  Is this correct?  Seems kinda sloppy to me. But from the looks of the cars in the pictures it must have been original.

Am I missing something?

I had a original Daytona the ground just hung on the motor when it was painted got some on it
