Was able to purchase a 2006 Daytona (Go-Man-Go)   ;D
This car belonged to my family member and he had gotten into an accident a few months back.
I was able to buy it and actually drove it home (it is pretty comical on my Youtube page - Search for 98Saleen).

So as you can imagine, I didn't buy it to fix it up.
Nope, it is now going to be the donor car for a new Hemi swap project into my 68 Charger.

Figured you would get a kick out of the pics.
Enjoy.

The drivers rear wheel looks out of square with the car. That would make for some crab walking sort of driving, huh?

John_Kunkel

IMO, that's the best way to start a Hemi swap; everything you'll need is right there and undamaged.  :2thumbs:
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Nice project, IMHO I'd leave the 68 as is, open the AMD catalog and reskin the 2006 as a 68-70 Charger.....

These days a G3 Hemi swap isn't much harder than going from a LA to a B/RB.  The necessary motor mounts, headers, oil pan, radiator . . . it's all in the catalogs.

Made some more progress last night.
Hemi is out!

Great project. If I could I would like to put a 392 scat pack package in my 67. Keep us up to date on the progress.

IMHO reskinning the 2006 you take advantage of the engineering advancements not just of the driveline, but the suspension/handling and braking......... :Twocents:

Yes, but that's a whole different kind of project.  Some people just want the new motor.

Got the ScrapTona all loaded up and ready to go to somebody new!  Haha.
If you are in need of a parts car in the Raleigh, NC area, let me know.
It still has some good parts on it including fuel tank/pumps, dash/cluster/gauges, passenger side doors/glass/window motors/door panels/trim, hood, trunk lid/spoiler, taillights, headlights, rear differential, etc.

Cool project...the Daytona shouldn't be too bad of a fix assuming the frame is straight.  The lift must have been nice for dropping the 5.7 out.

The LR wheel on the Daytona looks way out of line.  Check the 2nd shot on the thread.  And that shot on the lift that is looking from the front (reply #6).

Buying a whole donor car is 100% the best way to go about doing a swap from everything I've seen so good call!

If you need any help or parts I'm in the North Raleigh area and always happy to help out a fellow Charger owner. :2thumbs:
