Hi im trying to locate an engine no (if there is one) on my 68 R/T

I think i can see the last 8 digits of my vin, on top of the back of the block and tranny 727 (pic attached)

2 questions, 1)i was told 68's didnt have stamped vins on the block?

And secondly im trying to register my car and need to provide (if any) an engine no#

Would this all so be the engine no?  Or not? Thanks

Vin not stamped on blocks on the 68 models, that number is the shipping order which is also on the fender tag. This number is also found on the radiator support and left trunk.

I disagree, In 68´s Vin is stamped in engine block and trans near oil sender unit, VON is stamped on trunk gutter lip rail and radiator core suport and matchs with fender tag

last 8-digits of the VIN is stamped on "performance" engines & transmissions for the full 1968 model year - as the OP's pic shows

NO VONs for 1968 - it is a Shipping Order Number (S.O.#) that is stamped on the body & fender tag

My late year build 68 Charger 383-4 has the last 8 numbers of the VIN on point where engine and trans mate together.

Is it possible this changed after Jan 1st, I know they  had some other safety, etc changes then?
