Anyone know the max lift that a 440 with factory flat top pistons can handle? ( no valve reliefs in pistons) wanting to go with a cam that has a max lift of .522

cdr

Cam lift has very little to do with PV clearance, Duration is the main factor, also has the block and or heads been decked & how much , what cam do you have

I also forgot to mention how far down is the piston from the deck @ TDC I cant find a cam with the same specs, my advice is to check it for clearance ,

:iagree: The factory "flat top" pistons came in at least three compression heights that vary over .100".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
