Well, unfortunately, your car is one of the few that doesn't have a dealership listed on the shipping list. What color and interior color, is it auto or 4 seed?

Cowboymac

It is Yellow and black with black interior.

It has Special Edition wood grain dash and console.
Power windows.  440 car.  Supposedly the dealer put the six Pak on the car.
Automatic transmission.

Yeah, no problem man, anytime. Sounds like the car is in good hands

According to the Dealer Invoice list, 398856 was a Public Relations car.  That particular car's D.I. entry is not clear, but one of the places mentioned was Sacramento, CA.

With it being for Public Relations, having SE, auto & power window options makes sense.  Lord only knows how it got to be in Arizona.

Probably was assigned to the local zone office.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

It wound up in Arizona by a board member here. back in late 70's/early 80's. Last time I saw this car was at the mecum auction in indy a few years back.
Glenn Walton had the car in the early 80's.

Do you happen to remember what year it was at Mecum?

Where would a person go to obtain a copy of the shipping list?  I've heard a lot about it but I've never actually seen one.

Off top of my head I would say it was in 2014. Same auction as a Red Charger 500 SE and the 99 HEMI 500.

Correction, the one I was thinking of I went back and looked at my pics. It was in 2013 and it wasn't this car. Another Y2 Daytona with dealer installed six pack. My apologies.

What can you tell me about Glenn Walton?  Who is he?  Do you know for certain he owned 398856?  I looked on FB for him but I'm not familiar with the site and not sure what I'm looking for. We're trying to trace the history of the car. Thanks

Nascarxx29 - Thank you for sharing.  Is there a list for 500's?  It appears the link you shared provides info for Daytona's only.  Very helpful though.  Interesting to see where cars got sold and when.

there is a shipment list for 500's as well. However only one known copy of it, and the person who has it in his possession does not like to share it.  Is there a particular 500 yours wondering about?

Livinglife442

The one I'm searching out is not in the registry.  After another quick look at the registry it doesn't appear to show the dealership of original sale except for a small few.  Kind of curious to know the reason(s) someone would keep a shipping list out of the public eye.  I can't imagine there's anything on it that would be deemed confidential.

likely for the same reason you have not given the vin to the car you are seeking info on. doing so could very well get you the information you seek, as not everything known is in that registry.

the company document itself is in the hands of someone whose sole purpose is to profit from information.

There are quite a few 500's that are known that are not listed in the online registry of 500's. Many are not listed due to owners not wanting their car to be known, and have also had their cars parked for a very long time.

Does anyone have any information on the "Omaha Orange" 500 that is on this list? Reason I ask, is, about 10 years back I saw an orange 500 in someone's garage in Canada. I wasn't there to see it ('67 hemi Charger), so didn't pay it much attention (my bad). I did not ask if the orange paint was the original colour and the data plate was not accessible because of the packed garage.
You know you are vintage when someone says, "Back in the day", and you can dispute their facts.

Livinglife442

I have provided the VIN to only 2 individuals.  Mr. Liebrandt, and Galen.  Between those 2 individuals and the information I've provided them I'd suspect they could know just about everything that can be known about this car.  I have asked them to keep that VIN from public display and I appreciate the fact that they have kept that promise.
