300k is lala land. thus car will double that, even if it is all green

Hi gtx6970,              04 May 2022

You may very well be correct; we are far from experts. After reading all the posts on this thread and other info on the car, we have changed our minds on where the price will top out. Since we're not currently in the market for another Hemi Daytona, this one does not ring our bell.

In 68 a service station owner down the road from where we eventually had our station (in 1972) had a 68 Hemi Charger in F8, which we thought looked classy . . . . and still do. To us, this Daytona has way too much green; the only contrasts are the wing/stripe and tires/hubcaps. The other thing we think that hurts it are it's dubious past. It surely can't be considered original or a survivor and no mention of who did the restoration.

If we were in the market and had lots of $$$Green to toss around we'd buy it, then have Roger Gibson redo the car changing the color to V2 and the interior to black. We'd then drive the hell out of it here on the Arizona Highways.

It all boils down to personal preferences. We didn't buy our Mopar's as investments, we bought them because we liked and wanted them. We made a couple mistakes in so doing, we ordered the Six-Pack rather than a Hemi and sold the Hemi Cuda. The Charger 500 and Daytona came along after leaving for Japan on a three year stint.

This auction will be interesting. Wouldn't mind attending except it's too cold up yonder where it's taking place.

Take Care gtx6970

Hi nascarxx29,              05  May 2022

Congratulations, this last post of yours is your 12,000/th post on this site.

The subject Daytona sure has a colorful history. Will be interesting to see if it has any affect on the sale price, + or -. Time will tell.

Hi Folks,                06 May 2022

Going to mention another possible flaw with the subject Green Hemi Daytona. It is documented that this Daytona had  the snot knocked out of its nose. It ran around with a different front end, photos of which are posted on this site. No mention as to whether the replacement nose is genuine Daytona or aftermarket/clone. What other damage was sustained by this car when it lost its nose and how and what was it repaired with? That may have a significant impact on the hammer price.

If we were looking to buy a high end Daytona, this would not be it. We are going to stick with our $300K guesstimate. The only thing going for it is a 426 Hemi and 4-spd.

I will be there to see it go through. I remember sometime way back in like the 80,s this car was sold at the Mopar Nats and we thought that was stupid money. My guess is that it will pull 750K. Lots of people may not like the color but I do. It's going to be fun!

Troy,

Deep down I dont think there is a Bird out there that could break into 7 figures. Even with the history yours has. Even in todays crazy market.

BUT,,,,theres one way too find out. If you dare .

Wonder how much higher it would have gone with a high impact colour?  It checked all the boxes, but colour.

Eight owners and two restorations!

Not exactly a 'one owner, survivor' car lol...

But it puts F8 GREEN, right back on the MAP... :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Ok, a green interior is a bit hard to swallow, but hey its still a Daytona 4-speed... :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

Maybe a lighter shade of (pale) green?

Bigger tires with white writing. :shruggy:

Hi nascarxx29,            01 June 2022

Thanks for the info. Does it still exist and if so, is there any history written about it?

Sounds interesting.

Hi nascarxx29,           03 June 2022

Unfortunately, my browser is like me, antiquated. Youtube won't allow my browser to run their videos. Have a newer PC, just haven't gotten round2 installing it and then figuring out how to use it. Not a high priority.

Thank you for the link, will get round2it one of these days. Too many irons in the fire that are more important.

Thanks again.

This car looks very well bought after now seeing what the column automatic Hemi Superbird just sold for at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas.
