So i was told an AC pf20 would go right on a 1970 440 or 383 and work great.. IS that actually true??

Yes it will spin right on.   3/4 - 16 thread.    Motorcraft FL1A,   Purolator L30001, Wix 51515 or 51068.   There are many choices.
