AFTER VIEWING , I HAVE TO POOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dayclona already built a 71 version of a Super Bee Daytona. The black car is a Superbee, with the full Daytona treatment. I do not know why,but they dont show that black car too often. I saw the car at a show in Vernon Connecticut, and I thought the black car was the hottest o the three 71 wingcars.

:iagree:  unusual ,     that could be an original superbird wing on there,  a bit of a long shot though.   didn't the chrysler engineers first look at the coronet body for wing car modification  , but then they all went away and drew a charger with an aero nose & wing modifications , or i  might be mistaken on this.

Not that I'm aware of, tantop.

The Daytona was from Day1 intended to be the next generation aero offering after the Charger 500.  It made more sense to do an aero treatment to the Charger than to a Coronet, due to the semi-fastback possibilities.  Everything I've ever seen shows the nose and wing application initially for Chargers only.  I wonder if Chrysler would have even done the Superbird if the Richard Petty deal hadn't come up. ???

i don't hate it but i don't know if i like it either.  to me the guy comes off like,  not to nice  a guy. first he calls it a '69 Dodge Daytona with Scat Pack!  ? thats not a daytona. second how much does he think it gonna sell it for. he wants,  successful bidder must send a deposit of $5,000 within 2 days.  Balance due when vehicle picked up. No exceptions!  is it such a  piece of crap that you can't come see it  with the money in hand. i understand a $500. deposit as a sign of good faith but $5000 deposit in two days. thats alot.
if you read between the lines, this is what the add says to me, hey idiot, this is a real daytona, i want big bucks for it and it's a 30 foot car but when you start looking closely , it sucks. i could be totally wrong. that's what the wording means to me. Rene

bull

I don't think it's as confused as the most obvious transgendered models of the auto world: the Ranchero and El Camino. I guess the Subaru Brat and Baja fit inot that category too. And that Omni pickup-looking thing.

Jon Smith

its no more confused than a real wing car ;D

the fact that he's calling it a daytona is a bit weird though

you're right Hemigeno,               my mistake  :-[   :rotz:
articles & and interviews have   been written in various magazines  on Richard Petty over the years , petty left plymouth because the roadrunner was no longer competitive against the aero fords & 500's on the superspeed ways and  Chrysler would not let Richard run a 500
so he signed a 1 year contract with ford ,  the written articles all maintain that Chrysler was embarrassed about the King left to run a ford , and so they built a super bird so he would come back, weren't petty enterprises offered a deal were they   would be the only factory distributor for race cars / parts, or was that later on . my thoughts on the super bird are because the 500 was not as competive as chrysler thought. the dodge boys created the daytona. plymouth  all ready  lost a major asset[ petty engineering] were no longer competitive against aero fords Mercury's & C500's , and with the success of the daytona  and petty driving for ford , plymouth had no choice but to build a superbird  to stay competitive , weather Petty came back to plymouth or not , that is just my  :Twocents:

Wow, just when you thought you've seen it all... ::)

The brown bench seat interior with geeky dash was a nice touch...

Lowprofile

I don't know what I liked better, the pimp-daddy/hip-hop wheels, the K-Mart steering wheel cover, or the Spark-o-Matic speakers artistically carved into the door panels.  :rotz:   :image_294343:
