1968 Charger: Option code 508 ( special paint treatment )

Hello all..

I was curious..  On a '68 Charger, there is a code slot for Special Paint Treatment.. 50#... When the # is 8, you have 508. Some reference material mentions 508 = Hood Performance Paint Treatment...  What in the world is that? I did not think that a hood performance paint was available for a Dodge Charger in 68, that it started in 69 then 70...

there was a post on this earlier in the year a few months ago  ,  there was some discussion it could be the black out around the turn signals  but it was rare to see this code and all turnsignal cars got the black out  ?

interesting   :yesnod:, prolly  mistake fender tag  stamping at the factory or who ever done the tag ......  

not to confuse things was'nt there  a V08 trim/ body color waver  for the 69 models unless i'm thinkin gof something else , i await to be corrected

wonder if the broadcast sheet & fender tag was made april  1st 1968
