G-UNOT89@hotmail.com, greatly apreciated-MATT

THE CHARGER PUNK

also what is the interior like in your big willy daytona? stock or does it have guages, race seats etc.?-MATT, and oh my last question for a while, but what size rim and tire combo are you running?

WilliesDaytona

It has 15x4 torq thrust on the front with 7.10 Moroso Tires and 15x10 Torq Thrust on the rear, they have 3.5 backspacing and I have a 29.5 x 10.5 tire, the tread actually measures 11.25,  The interior is stock except the Rear Seat is GONE, it has some 70 and up Mopar High Back Bucket with some funky Bunt Orange inserts, a REAL SMALL Custom three spoke steering wheel, a Bent Turn Signal Arm for extra leg room For Willie...

Can you shed any light on the rumour about Chrysler giving the cars to Big Willie?

Howie

Gary,
glad you made it to our forum. Thanks for letting me take a bunch of pictures of your car. I shot a 180 pictures with the digital saturday at Bowling Green and will have them today. I still cant believe some idiot walked behind me and thought it was the joe dirt car. Enjoyed seeing the car and whatever restoration you do to it will be fine.

262chargers

Welcome Mr. French, that is one hell of a car you have there  :yesnod:
I'm curious as to how you acquired it? Was it advertised? Word of mouth? Again, just curious  ???

I was going to point out the "Superbird" mix-up from Byron's site, but it looks like you took care of it

Chrysler DID give Big WIllie the King Daytona/ Hemi 4 spd car that is in the advertisement and in Two Lane Blacktop

The Queen Daytona was ordered by some Comedian/actor but he decided he didn't want it, Big Willie and Tomiko bought it for a Song from Warren Fox Dodge, Willies Conection with Chrysler got him that car REAL CHEAP, it was F6 Green, white interior, AM/8track, and Power windows Hemi/ automatic...

My car was sold new at Cherry Hill Dodge in New Jersey, I don't really know How Big Willie came up with it

A neat little fact is the am/8track that was in the Queen Daytona is in my car today, and the Hood + Wing are the off of the King Daytona when it was in Two Lane Blacktop

I don't really have alot of pictures on my Computer of the car, or the stuff I have collected on Big Willie but I will take care of that and Post so many you guys will get sick of seeing it..

I am Stbasher, the T7 Bronze Daytona is in the north/eastern part of Ky and is in the middle of being completley restored ... I have a copy of the Title before I transferred it, and I will see if I can find the info.. I can't remember if it was it or the F6 green car I had that was only two digits from my Big Willie Daytona

THE CHARGER PUNK

so as u were stating with the interior it has those halloween 71 charger seats orange/black, but does the interior have a tach or aftermarket guages anywhere or is it all stock?-MATT

Acid Dipping was a common  practice by all the top racing teams of the late 60s early 70s, what they basicly did was put the car, or parts, into a huge tank of acids, it would slowly eat away the metal evenly from inside  and out, so if the acid ate away half the thickness then the car or parts would wiegh half as much... I wish I knew somewhere that I could get it done now, I would have my Street Race car done..

Yeah, but it DIDN'T look that good when it was done..

My wingcar records showed the 2 hemi daytonas of Big Willies as XX29J9B356523 and XX29J9B356525.Will have to look it up again. And double check that information

The vin for the daytona that sold from Cherry Hill Dodge is [[[XX29L9B356[535]]]] is a L code 440 4 barrel car with a April 27 AKA 427 build date J numbe 926071 and is a Automatic V2 orange car

I had also noticed in a old car magazine wheel ad that the 1 big willie car.Had WARREN FOX motors Upland CA on a decal on the car. After looking through the daytona shipment list .I didnt recall seeing Warren Fox Dodge .Maybe he sponsored or provided services to Big Willies car

Thanks for the comments on the Daytona,   I have been and still am a HUGE FAN OF Big WIllie Robinson and Tomiko  I have been since I was 11/12 years old, when Mopar Collectors Guide did the article on Big Willie and they had his old phone number at the end of the article, with that number I called Willie Several times a month, with no luck but I was such a fan I liked listening to the message on the answering machine, then one day I get a call and on the other end was BIG WILLIE, I thought someone was messing with me, I joined the club, and kept in contact with Willie, about 8 years ago I went to California for 10 days, 7 of those I spent running around with Willie and Tomiko, he showed me his cars and I asked if the Daytona was for sale, it was in his back yard, against the fence and beside his pool, HE SAID NOOOOOOO, I will never sell that car it is the last of my Daytonas.. Fast forward 4 years later I am getting ready to deliver a couple cars out west and call Willie and ask if he knows where any Wing Car Projects are for sale, I figured since he owned a Daytona maybe others had told him about cars, He said NOOOOO, Then after a pause he ask how much $$$$$$ you talking about, I told him, and he said I need some money for Permits and Legal stuff trying to reopen the Brotherhood Raceway,Then he said  Dont tell anyone else because I won't sell it to anyone else but since I was such a big fan, a club member, and kept in touch with him he said I could buy his car, I about passed out, got my head straight, next day aired a Certified Check, and was digging it out of his Back yard three days later... That is How I bought Big Willies Daytona...  It is my most prized car I have ever owned, including 4 other Wing Cars, Max Wedge Cars, an AAR Cuda, and several other Mopars, I have been approached many times to sell the car, but Someone would have to GO CRAZY and Offer more money than would even make sence, I have collected Big Willie stuff since age 12 and I feel as I have the Biggest piece of Big Willie Memorbilia out there.... My Greatest Enjoyment with the car is when it brings someone else enjoyment, two years ago I had the car at the Hot Rod reunion and an Older Guy, that lived in LA back in the early mid 70s, and was involved in the Street Race scene, back then, stood beside my car and Cried when he saw the car and Thanked me about 200 times for bringing the car and keeping it exactly the way I bought it... That brought me more enjoyment than having the car itself..
