Yesterday I had this guy name Hugo from a big interior restoration company come to my house and install the headliner. It came out awesome!! It's tight as a drum. It's great to have someone that does this every day for a living - the quality shows. He impressed me when he laid out the new liner and said that he had to go home to his garage to add a set of pockets for the last two steel bows at the sail panels. He said that allot of shops just glue them on to the card board, but he said that is not the way the factory did them and that's not the way he does it. So he left for a few hours and came back with the new small pockets sewn on to the new liner.

* for those who will be installing a new head liner, makesure you have the small bow pockets added like the factory liners came from Chrysler. The new liners do not have them! It makes a difference!!

I will take better pictures tonight. He even installed the inside trim on the rear window. He was going to do the front but I was missing one clip that supports the trim. I knew I had it but couldn't find it! I was so pissed!!!! As soon as he left, not even 20 minutes, I found it. I spoke with him later that night to thank him again for the superb job and told him about the clip and he said he would stop by one day after work to install it - no problem. He charged me $ 200 for the whole job. I also bought him lunch - he deserved it. He started at 11:00 am and was done 5:00 pm - that's including the two hours he was gone. I might use him for the interior too. He was telling me that he's currently working on the interior of Chuck Zito's 56' Belaire at Auto Mat the shop he works during the week. He said Chuck's car is totally 100% chromed! When they go out side they have to wear sunglasses to work around it. He invited me to attend a huge car show this coming Saturday at Auto Mat's facility in Hicksville, NY. Over 500,000 invitations were sent out for all the vehicles they have done. I'm kind of curious to see what shows up, but I'll be most likely working my second job to pay for all this. He's done several celebrity's vehicles in the past - couple of custom interiors for some Yankees and Jets players.

You think he would come out to Staten Island? :scratchchin: ;)

My headliner is in decent shape except for the rear corners where some of the stitching is working its way loose.....a replacement will be due in the near future

I spoke to him this morning and he said he would install the front trim for me and he's stopping by my house possibly tomorrow. I'll ask him then Chris, just for haha's. Even if he does not, he might know someone in Staten Island or Brooklyn area. Auto Mat is pretty big outfit for what I hear. He game me a name and phone number for a guy that installs car glass, adjusts and restores all the door mechanism - does that on the side too for cash. I going to have him come over and give me an estimate to get all the glass, weather strip, etc installed and all door mechanism adjusted by a professional - that excludes me. :icon_smile_big:
