Proper chassis/brake parts finishes for a 73?

What's the correct finish for the upper control arm struts, spindles,sway bar brackets/links, and caliper brackets for a 73? Isn't it all suppose to be cast coat? I've sprayed the strut rods on the lower control arms black, control arms black, dust shields I left natural with clear coat over.. Finally found someone who could get out the upper control arm bushings leaving the outer shells in place.
