Keep up the good work Rene  :yesnod: , I have a large shop and gave up on doing body work myself years
ago. I did all the body work on my 69 Superbee in 1982, it was very hard work and the car was
in great shape, my hat is off to the people that can do good body work  :yesnod: :yesnod:

Quoteyou sure your compressor is in a place where it can get good circulation?

that is the best place i have for it. the shed is packed. it's only 10x10

Quoteit was very hard work

thanks for your kind words guys .they really do help keeping me motivated .  yea bodywork is very hard work. i thought that after we finish the charger we would jump on the roadrunner clone but I'm tired already . i will need a break in between.
i have several friends that help me but the main man Emilio is an old friend  but i am paying him for the job. he is out of work and can use the money. since we are using all my tools and my place, he gave me a price i could not refuse.
it's over 90 degrees out today and  I'm having a hard time getting motivated to go outside and do some work on the charger . seeeeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Rene

hey
car is close to paint. got the doors on, fenders on and quarter panels done. i finished painting the grill, it came out nice. i chose to black out the whole grill. i think it looks tougher that way. i posted a picture of the way it should look like  on the car. i painted the engine in the engine bay. when i changed the timing chain. i will post before and after pics when I'm done assembly of the motor. moving rite a long. howdy kids
i don't see much interest in my little thread. about my restoration. so this might be my last post on this matter.
man! it's been alot tougther then i ever expected. the heat, the rain, running out of whiskey,  and me trying to stay focused. yea i know life's a beach. i lost my first canopy to the rain. it calasped on me. i lost the second one to the wind it took off and messed up some cars in the parking lot next door. so f-it I'm working in the sun.
OK, i took the motor to the short block, rebuilt the heads, valve springs, guilds, lifters, timing chain, water pump and anything else i thought would help.
the grill is in and it works, opens and closes, the lights work.
please don't think anything was easy, it wasn't. every other bolt broke and i had to use fire to get them out. other bolts where stripped. this f-ing car fought me every inch of the way. I'm warn out.
now it runs better then ever, and were going to paint Monday nite. i talked to a guy who owns a body shop here by me. he said i can rent his spray booth for $150 for a nite. so I'm going there on Monday.

Thanks for the pix Rene.  It's cool following the resto.  That last progress pic is just that, your lastest progress,

Whiskey & work never mixed well for me, usually the beer lead to bench racing.

BigBlockSam

thanks for the kind worlds. i know you guys have the same luv for these chargers as i do and your words mean alot. today is sunday and i sat out side and just stared at the car for an hour as i ran the motor. i can't believe it's  at the point were it's almost ready for paint. after all the crap i went through with the bodyshop, paint day is here.  a couple of things still have to be tweaked and i have to remove the bumpers again. i got the re chromed vent and window frames in. they look good. the whole car will need a good detailing after paint. we also cut the valance ends that were bondo'ed in by the previous bodyshop they came out good. we're gonna go to paint by tomorrow nite, i hope.

Rene, keep posting.  It's more than just replies that show interest in a post.  As I type this, you've had 651 views of this thread, roughly double that of any post on the front page of Paint, Body & Trim!  :icon_smile_cool: :icon_smile_cool: :yesnod: :icon_smile_wink:

I'm painting where the vinyl top used to be on a 69 Charger in the backyard.  The bugs, dust, leaves etc. landing in the paint make for a challenge to keep the paint quality and look respectable.

Looking good man. I love seeing Chargers like yours right before paint, when the lines are so visible. Your car looks really nice and straight. I'm sure it will be an absolute beauty once it is painted. Congrats and good luck!

i never thought of it that way. thats very cool.

OK august 21, rented a spray booth for $150. for that price it's a no brainier.
I'm spraying the base and my bud is spraying the clear when he gets out of work. 3 coats of black  and 3 coats of clear. i decided to assemble part of the car before painting so i would not scratch it up in assembly after paint. Rene

Good luck with the painting process, my blue 68 was painted twice by a ''so called painter'' and it still needs
to be done right. I take it you know your stuff, thats great, plus black  :icon_smile_cool: I love black.

More pics to come right?
