  car is painted. came out good but needs a real good cutting. we had a problem with the clear. it was drying to fast. it was hard to put a real wet coat on but some wet sanding and buffing should straighten it all out. Rene

we had to put 4 coats of clear on it. because the third coat didn't come out shiny. evrything was going cool till then. my base coats went on great. at least there's alot of paint there to cut. Rene

he still got silver grille surround. Paint came out good for first time. I would've put more clear coats so that way you got enough to cut/buff later on.

You're a brave man painting the car black. Other than high metallic colors, black is one of the hardest to make look right. Looks like you guys pulled it off. Can't wait to see it finished. Now you get to start on the black daytona clone.

hey guys

I've been pulling the car around the front of the house every day . so that the sun can bake the paint. the front of the house gets sun all day. now it's been raining alot so not much work can be done but i hear the rain is good for the paint also. i hope to have the paint sanded and polished by the weekend so i can reassemble.

Now you get to start on the black daytona clone.   

yes  but that is a differant matter. the next car i do in the back yard will be my roadrunner clone and that will be in the spring. I'm gonna paint that one white, much easier color to paint. i just need help with the metal work, i will paint that one by myself. i enjoyed that part of the project the most.

i have been neglecting my business to get the r/t done. i can't continue that. so i have decided to have the bodywork on my daytona done by someone else.
  i have a friend that in my last conversation with him on the phone said, I THINK WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO BUILD YOU A WING CAR.
  I like that idea. i know he builds killer rides. 
so hopefully my daytona is not very far away. i waited 48 yrs, for a wing car, i guess one more can't hurt.

  i like the wheel combo on this car too. the tall front tires make it ride smooth.  it won't stop raining here. we got one good day of sun  and we got half the car sanded and polished. then it started raining again. here's some pics. Rene

i just ordered a new cover for it from the California car cover company and an auto duster. i wish the rain would go away so i could reassemble the car and start enjoying this charger again. it's been 2 years since I've done some burn outs with this car. Rene

  backyard body shop is open again. got my car back, 68 charger r/t   
it came back in parts but at least my friends  ex partner took  the time to weld in the tank strap holders and he installed the  new tank and sender for me . nice job undercoated the top of tank then put the trunk pad on. he felt bad how it ended. my so called friend walked away and never looked back. Karma will get him back one day.
  man! its good to have one of  my chargers back. all the plugs are fouled so its running like crap. i 'm changing the oil tomorrow. i think there's gas it it from starting up and pulling it in and out of his shop. looks like it's been in a war. i test fitted the fenders, hood, doors and trunk lid  today she looks good. although all that stuff has to come off again. i just wanted to see it together again. looks pretty good, very straight. i put the new gas cap and ring on. since now it's outside in my yard. I've been keeping it inside my outdoor car capsule but to do the body work I'm just using a regular cover with plastic taped over the openings. i want to get it done in 6 weeks painted and all.
this is whats been done so far.

new quarters
trunk center and extensions
outer wheel wheels
new rear valance and corners, although the corners have to be cut out , cause they bondo'ed them in.
doors had a big hole in them for a sport mirror. welded shut
hood was a mess looks great now
fenders needed alot of help. there pretty good now.  still alittle rough. nothing a big hammer won't fix.
all the metal work was done by his partner . excellent work.
here are some pics. i will share the rest of the restoration with you guy's as i go along . all work will be done by me and my friend Emilio. i want to take it to the whiskey Cafe in september. wish me luck with the weather it hasn't stopped raining since  i got here back. can't do bodywork in the rain. hey guys
man! she's gonna fight me till the end. i had to respray the quarters. in the right light you could see a white haze in the clear. i sprayed them in the backyard, they come out nice. i assembled alot of her, still have to install some of the interior but i wanted to take her for a ride. i went to the gas  station and filled up the tank .    gas was pouring out the bottom. the tank grommet was cut when they installed the tank.    i removed enough gas to stop the leak. then took her out on the highway. i miss the mirrors. i haven't installed them yet or the wheel opening mouldings.  she ran like the beast she is . it was f=ing great. gave her her first cleanning, she needs alot more . i think i might change the wheels to more stock looking . she came from the factory with red lines. here are some pics.  Rene
