Here are a few Aero car pics I took last weekend at Carlisle:

1.  Gorgeous 4-speed HemiDaytona
2.  Same
3.  Hemi C500 (one of the few 500's I saw the whole weekend)
4.  John A.'s very neat V2/Y2 Daytona, before the parking Nazi's made him move

hemigeno

Some more:

1.  Nosecone shot of John A's car
2.  John G.'s V2/auto Daytona that was entered in the SME Concours judging (restored by Dickie Wolfe)
3.  Trunk shot from John G.'s car, which surprised me since the rest of the car is pristine but the jack wasn't restored..  ???
4.  Black 4-speed Daytona, with John A.'s Daytona parked in the "right" space...   :flame:

Geno, do you happen to know who's C500 that was? I was informed that there was going to be a X9 charger 500 there with A/C, did it not show up?

Also is that a factory HEMI Daytona? If so I'm assuming it was a 4 speed car.

John's car is definitely unique, and in fantastic shape for never having been completely restored (i.e. engine never out of the car, etc.).  I can only imagine how much work he's done though to take the black paint off the engine compartment.  There were some guys looking at the car who questioned what was up with what (almost) looked like black overspray.  Made perfect sense after John later explained that the engine compartment was painted black and that he took oven cleaner and elbow grease to it in an attempt to remove the black and get down to the yellow..  :o

I knew you were gonna ask that, so I snapped off a picture of the broadcast sheet.  I figured since that showed the VIN, you wouldn't need the owner's name - since I do believe you have every C500 VIN known to mankind memorized...   :P  I'll email you the whole picture with the whole sheet here in a minute.  I think the owner is from Frysburg, PA, but the pic I took didn't have the full name.

Just because I didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't out there plain as day.  Was it in one of the buildings?  I looked around Building T, but not the other two buildings and I also didn't go through the car corral either.

Yep, it looked to be a factory 4-speed HemiDaytona.  I couldn't get a real good look at the Fender Tag (since the ropes were too far away), and with it being fairly dark under the tent I couldn't make out every code/letter either.  I could, however, see that the tag read A11, and below that E74 D21 - plus the VIN sequence # started with 4.  That was one nice car... :drool5:

johntpr

Great pictures Gene, and it was great to see you and everyone at the show !

69_500

Begins with a 4????? does it end with a 5? I can only recall 2 HEMI 4 speed Daytona's, and only 1 of those started with a 4 in the VIN.

I don't have every C500 vin memorized yet, but i'm getting closer and closer. Like at Vegas when I spotted a C500 I looked at his VIN and told him I hadn't seen his car before. Thought it was close to a few others. Took me about 15 minutes to come up with the 2 cars that were close to his, the 2 after his. Then went home and saw that I wasn't mistaken, and that I hadn't seen his car before.

Is that ash tray door supposed to be a slide down style?  it must be...  :scratchchin:   i thought dodge went to the flip down style door mid way thru 1968...  Guess i better check my 500 to see which style it has, but i'm 99% sure its a flip down style and not the slide down style...

Anyone get a pic of the Hemi Daytona's tag?  I couldnt see it either....

Here are the best two pictures I could take...

hemigeno

The best I can come up with on the codes is as follows:

  R22 V88 Y39  26  EN2
G11 G33 J25 M21 M31 N85
A11 A34 B41 B51 C16 C55
X9 X9 C6X X9 602 927205
E74 D21 XX29 J9B 405189

The stuff in red I pulled from the Shipping list, and it sorta looks correct according to the pics.   :scope:

There is a car on the '79 WW list that matches this description (Black, 4-speed, black interior w/ console) with that exact VIN.  If you want to look it up on the shipping list it is #291, shown as going out to Dodge City, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ.  In '79 it was listed as being owned by D. Hicks of Alabama.

69_500

If you want a photo of the fender tag that is clear let me know I have one. Actually I think I have about 25 or so. I went to see that car last year in the Spring time. gorgeous car, I also have photo's of it from 1982 when my dad turned down the chance to buy it off of Don Hicks for $10K. Seems that in 1989 Don did finally sell the car but for a tad more than $10K.
Car was missing the fender tag in 1982. Not sure how they got the fender tag now though.

nascarxx29

I was checking over the wings at carlisle.I thought that car at Jacobs spot was Don Hicks daytona now S Foxs. That had been damaged before underneath.I also saw the yellow daytona .And spotted numerous inconsistencies on it.Seen the blue one from OK .A Roy B car from FL $230K.And the V2 orange one From Mn was also in the car corral. And my friends John A daytona was there .A nice daytona specimen

Your correct on the HEMI car there Dave.

What Yellow Daytona are you refering to?

nascarxx29

This one Danny it was there 37972?.Its a known car but was recored as wrecked and or parted out .It was put back together But I seen alot of differences from minor to major inncorrect brake booster the trunk hinges and straight nose channel brackets were fabricated .It was wearing a glass nose and valance .It is a automatic car currently but was originally a 4 speed it had a dana.Wasnt matching numbers .The rad support might have been replaced hood had the ribs. The welds and fabricated bracket to latch tray area didnt look right to me .The weather strip area on dr side where number would be was was already pulled up previously .I dont recall seeing a number there.I was going to look underneath for evidence as to the bolt heads from the tabs holding the wing braces and bolt that held scissors jack.To further investigate this cars origins.Came back later the following day it was on the trailer going

My C500 has the slide down style ash tray, early production date Nov 14. My 68 has the flip down, late production date in July.

I'm admittedly a novice when it comes to Superbirds, but wouldn't the B30 scheduled build date and the J97xxx Special Order number sortof imply a Superbird and not a 'Runner?

Geno, do you happen to know who's C500 that was? I was informed that there was going to be a X9 charger 500 there with A/C, did it not show up?

Also is that a factory HEMI Daytona? If so I'm assuming it was a 4 speed car.

Ironically the X9 500 with A/C mentioned on page one of this thread would be the same X9 500 being discussed in the other thread that Ghoste started.
