I got back from Carlisle and got to work right away on my superbird and have it ready to paint. I had a few final parts to finish up and was going to paint it in about 2 weeks. But now I finally found a R/T hood for a scoop I have been looking for forever so now I have to start all over on my hood. so that should set me back a few more weeks. I looked for a hood at carlisle but they were outragest. and got home and found this one 10 miles away. It is rusty underneath and was laying in a non car guys backyard for he said 20 years when the motor blew up in his 70 440 sixpak 4sp R/T he started pulling the engine out and gave up. he said he let car sit behind house a few years and then he needed some fill dirt to fill a hole so he had the car pushed it the hole to take up room to save money on dirt. anyway at least he forgot to put the hood back on and I got it for $25.00 . But what a bone Head!!!! he could buy quite a few loads of dirt today for what the cars worth now. heres a few pics of progress

Doubt that hood came off 440-6 car  - fresh air hoods were standard , and 97 Coronet 440-6 4spds were built  - doubt his story about burying the car is true too      :o :o

THE CHARGER PUNK

Sun roof superbird , that car is gonna one sweet looked for sure ,keep up the good work ;D-MATT, p.s. odds are buddy that story is true no one knew these cars would be worth tons of cash and ive yet to see a fresh air scooped 6-pack coronet car, all the ones ive seen are original ramcharger hood cars

Wow, $25 would have been about the going rate for that hood in 1982, nice score!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ghoste

Didn't one of the car mags state something to the effect of "all of the cars are only located 10 miles from your home"?   Looks like some of the parts deals are as well.  Good buy.

69_500

I agree with Ghoste, but I make the radius a little larger. I say that any car you really wanted to located can typically be located within a 50 mile radius of your house.

Case in point I dream of owning another 500 and a Daytona. Okay I want a Daytona badly, but would take another 500 too. I know of 3 Daytona's and 2 500's that are within a 50 mile radius of me now.

Man, you got a bargain on that hood. I paid $750 for a rust free 70 coronet R/T hood earlier this year for my bird clone. However, I did get a pretty good deal on a 71 R/T hood with the insert along with a couple of 71 R/T doors, a deck lid and the quarter extensions all for $400. I'll cut the louvers out of the doors along with the upper and lower body lines and graft them into my 74 charger doors. I'll install the 71 deck lid and alter the tops of the quarters as well. Should make a pretty nice g-series daytona eventually. I still need a set of nice bucket seats for that project. I'm just gathering parts for this 74 rust free charger daytona clone as I find them, but I'm planning to finish the bird clone first. Can't wait to see your bird clone finished.
