howdy
thats whats great about this board. there's alot of cool people here.

i am restoring my 68 charger r/t. when i got it back from the bodyshop. they had lost all the brackets that hold on my front bumper. f-ing assholes!.
so i put and add in the parts wanted section. i got several responses. but wingnut was the closest. plus his  seem to be in the best shape. i said to my wife, he's only like 2 hrs away. my wife looked at me and smiled, then said , " road trip". she's a good egg and my partner. i couldn't have my cars without her help and support.
we went from nj, to the end of ct. 2 hrs there and 3 1/2 back. lotsa traffic.
we spoke on the phone and he seemeed cool. i checked out his web page  http://community-2.webtv.net/petev8/WINGNUT426/

i was blown away. this guys got 3 wing cars. i'm just trying to buy some bumper brackets, and most of you guys know that i'm a wing car freak. Yeah Baby! shure as shit, he's a wing car man.
when i get there . i keep ringing the bell at his house and nobody answers. then i hear thump, thump, thump and around the house  comes a white hemi superbird . whites my favorite color for a bird. i was speachless. i know, it's only a car, i got monster mopars, but there it is. my dream car. the hemi is not important to me. i get just as turned on by a nice 440. 440 is the best engine mopar ever made for porformance.
pete came over and said hi to me and my wife. it's all kinda blurry there for a while. i know him and my wife talked for a while but i was blinded by the bird. beautiful, awlsome, unfreaggin believable. my dream car. rite infront of me.
his car is an original hemi white bird. it was raced at the salt flats in 1971 and held the 200 mph record for a production car. not for long but it did hold the record. it's all original. i think it had a repaint. it is my favorate bird, that i have ever seen. imaculate.
then we go inside his garage and there is a 440 69 daytona charger. green. outstanding! he showed me a old playboy with his daytona in it. sure as shit thats the car. the car looks like the day it came from the factory.
ok, my heads spinning.  i'm in wing car overload. there's alot of station wagons around. ok wagons and wing cars, cool.
he starts walking up to some other garages, we're talking mopar trash and i'm having a great time. he opens up the door and sure as shit there is a convertable daytona clone with a hemi. sublime green. wow!, very cool!. nice car and Pete
'wingnut"  is a real cool guy. i coulda hung around and talked wing car stuff with him all day.
then i remembered , hay don't you have  bumper brackets for me. i had forgotten about them. as we where putting the brackets in my trunk, he seen the rough hood that i had for my daytona and said i got a daytona hood in alot better condition then that. we discussed it and BAMM!  i got a new hood for my daytona. hey wingnut, your alrite. thank you for the tour take care of my dream car. thats the sweetest superbird  i've ever seen.    Rene and Nurit

Nope...  isn't that a little strange for Chrysler (at the time)?

Awesome pictures, Rene!!  Pete seems like a nice guy, and I look forward to meeting him sometime - and maybe taking a look at those cars too   :o

THE CHARGER PUNK

Sweet cars , but no pic of the daytona vert?

BigBlockSam

If I'm not mistaken wasn't the Playboy Daytona missing the fender scoops in the picture?

INcredible collection of cars none the less.

I'd give about anything to have just 1 wing car.

Brock Samson

sure does look like it (the playboy car)... did ya' get a chance to ask him about the scoops and why they were missing in theplayboy photo shoot?..

BigBlockSam

Quotedid ya' get a chance to ask him about the scoops

sure did.  one of the first things he did when he got the car was find an nos set of scoops and install them but he never cut the hole on the top of the fender. i looked in the scoop , no hole. remember he's owned this car since the early 80's. there was still some nos parts around. Rene

Pete is a great guy.  I have been dealing with him since the early 90's for parts for my Charger.

He is still one of the only honest sellers out there.   I recommend him highly to all that ask.

Good to see he's keeping his toys clean!

I have always wondered what happened to the Playboy Daytona.

We kicked that topic around for a while on this thread:

Playboy Daytona Thread

Yup I remember that thread, and I remember that no one seemed to know where the car was today. I remember discussing who was the photographer of the picture and such.

Pete owns it.
