Currently, I'm doing something I never thought I'd do:  sales at CompUSA.  It's part time, so my back doesn't get all hammered, but I was awaiting a tech position there.  It's not looking like they want to take me out of sales now -- apparently, I'm good at it.   :flame:  So I'll be job-hunting again soon for a real job with real pay.

I am a retired Police Officer. I have a small swimming pool business. I also have a small security/investigative business that I have had for about 15 years.  They pay the bills and keep my kids fed. Neither is making me rich. ::)

I work at a help desk and get to listen to people blame me for their computer problems.....and of course it always needs to be fixed in 10 seconds ::)
It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office. - H.L. Mencken

Hmm!   More than once have I considered hiring an investigator.   What kinds of rates do you have?

If the cops up here would just do their jobs, I wouldn't feel the need, but there's a rapist managing a bar here in town and I know he's going to be killing a woman soon.   Three women have reported him to the police, but they've done nothing but question him.    :flame:

I was hoping an undercover could get the job done -- do you ever do anything like that?   Of course, being a woman might help.    ::)   But for argument's sake, just wondering what kind of cost one would be looking at for such a job.   (And where are you from?   Alaska usually has higher rates.   ::)

I am a lobster fisherman.
I sometimes work construction when I score small contracts
I have a university degree though and have held jobs with Corrections Canada and Social Services.
But now I prefer fishing a few months out of the year especially when I make 2,000 bucks a day when the water is right.  But there are weeks I can get 4 or 5 days of good fishing in.  2 months of fishing brings me enough money to survive the whole year.  The construction work during off season is to buy those little extras in life. Plus it gives me a break from the lazy around all day all week long during my off season.  I am saving up to buy my own equipment to direct and produce my own films.  I also graduated from the vancouver film school and worked on a number of productions.  I have a couple of scripts i am presently working and hope to make them into films within the next year or two.  I am also writing a book, two years i have been working on my book, hopefully this winter it will be complete and then published!

My primary job right now is working for Morris Press publishing.  They publish cookbooks and school text books.  7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday.  My second job is at KFC, on the weekends, parttime.  Busy schedule, but I'm making decent money.

I think Alaska is a bit far for me to go. We do some workers compensation and some internal investigations for factories and busineses. We also do some general security and escorts. Your situation would be an expensive proposition. Full time long term surveillance aint cheap. I'm sure someone would do it for the right price.

I haul cars for Allied Systems in Ontario. New cars don't thrill me much any more, but I do get to play with the new cars first before they are released :drive: Been moving lots of Chargers these days, all the Daytonas go from the plant to Windor where the stripes are installed. I don't much care to the look of them, but hey, work is work! The SRT-10 Ram is pretty wild, hard to not get into trouble loading that one, tons of power!

I work in a body dispoal facili- I mean, a fertilizer plant. I blend the trace metal elements that then get mixed with NPK grades to acheive custom blends for crop/soil conditions. Can you believe they let a sociopath like me play with acids, flammable metals, and ammonia? No wonder the world is in such bad shape! In summer, when production is ceased, I put on maintenance and fabrication hats, too. Right now, I am trying desperately to keep the west end of the plant from falling down on top of us. The main supports are buckled badly from 50 years of acids, water leaks, blasting agents (to free up the storage piles when they solidify) not to mention the sheer weight of 400 ton pilings of materials. Steel does not appear to like micronutrients much. I have my work cut out for me.

I keep a part time job at the local pharmacy, though I work in the store/photo part.  This year I'm a RA in my dorms.  Haha, a big, scary RA.  the benefits of the job just seemed to outweigh the drawbacks, so I went for it and got it.  I was surprised.  I get a double room with no roommate, and free housing.  I'm saving like 4k a year on a 17k bill.
